HEELEY

AN ENGLISH PERFUMER IN PARIS

Founded in Paris in 2001, Heeley is a perfume house quite unlike any other.

James Heeley settled in Paris in 1994 having read Philosophy and Law at King’s College, London University. Today he is a designer, artist and perfumer. The majority of his design work is made in collaboration with French artisans and testify his love of noble materials and the ability to combine function and traditional workmanship in an elegant, contemporary form.

As a designer influenced by nature it was quite logical that James Heeley should be fascinated by the world of scent. In France, through his design work the young Englishman discovered how scents are "designed" and made. As an autodidact, he learnt to make scent alongside other perfumers in a family run laboratory in the region of Grasse in the South of France, where he continues to work today.

AN INDEPENDENT PERFUME HOUSE

Heeley perfumes are now recognised in the highly competitive world of French haute perfumery for their quality and creativity. Within just over ten years James Heeley has created nearly fifty scents, both for his own collection and for others, of which his perfumes, Menthe Fraîche, Cardinal and Sel Marin, in addition to his collection of perfumed candles are now established as references in the world of independent French perfumery.

As an independent perfume house, Heeley continues to grow as from the begining, ‘organically’. Every product is developped ‘in house’ from the creation of the scent and the selection of raw materials, to the typography, graphic design and packaging. It is this independence and creativity that has led to a number of working collaborations: Dom Perignon, Maison Kitsuné, le Cabinet de Curiosités de Thomas Erber, contemporary French artist Loris Gréaud and Magda Danysz Gallery - Paris.
